What are the Kitchen Trends for 2024?4 min read

As we are fast approaching the end of 2023, we look at the kitchen trends for the new year so we can get fully prepared for new and exciting designs in these family-friendly spaces. The kitchen is still very much the heart of the home where we connect with family and friends and a place where we can retreat from busy everyday life. The kitchen sees the most foot traffic out of all the other rooms in the home, so it’s always worth adding a kitchen trend to increase its appeal.

Are you looking to upgrade your kitchen in the new year and already thinking about what trend you will add to this family favourite space? It’s only fitting for us to share the top kitchen design trends of 2024, so with help from us and this blog, we’ve put together the trends that will dominate the year 2024 and the next few.

Hinxworth Project

Kitchen Island Seating

Arranging the seats around the island for everyone to feel involved is key. Lots more homeowners are looking to see how they can enjoy quality conversations at the kitchen island. This means the seating is arranged in a way that goes around two of the sides or even three and the cook/host will be on the free side. After all the island is a big focal point of a kitchen design.

Kitchen Islands Designed in Different Ways

In 2024, we will get the best of both worlds with the kitchen island as they will be designed in different ways. Some will have closed storage below, while others will have furniture-style legs and an open space for counter-height stools to tuck under.

Gold Everywhere

We are seeing hints of gold in the kitchen design a lot more now as matte black takes second place. This means the taps, cabinet handles, detail on accessories/furnishings and even the cutlery will be gleaming in gold, creating a warmer atmosphere for us to enjoy much more.

A Combination of Mixed Materials

Wooden tones will be continued throughout the kitchen design in 2024 as we see more wood panelling making its entrance. Welcoming warm natural wood tones is a hint to the Scandinavian design.

Undercounter Fridges

The need for under-counter fridges is being built into every room all over the house where you can reach quickly for a cold drink. Manufacturers have quickly acted on this and responded with dual refrigerators as well as dual under-counter refrigerator drawers. It still plays a part in the kitchen design, but it’s also headed outside into outdoor bars and upstairs in dressing rooms.

Green Colour Palette

Colour trends in 2024 will see green being a top choice. Green has been a favourite for many years in interior design and it certainly isn’t going anywhere. It breathes new life into the space creating a cosy, inviting atmosphere. Green is also a very versatile hue, so it can be combined with a range of other colours too.

Coffee and Tea Stations

Do you have a stunning state-of-the-art coffee machine? It deserves to be on full display next year! Coffee and tea stations are becoming the new ‘thing’ in the modern kitchen where they are built in a separate unit with surrounding furniture storing glassware.

Impressive Range Hoods

Impressive range hood designs are making a huge impact in 2024. They range from wood, stainless steel and mixed materials.

At the Tempsford project, we added a bespoke range hood to the kitchen and hand-painted it in the wall colour our client opted for.

Minimalist Kitchen Layouts

Carefully thought-out minimalist layouts are perfect to clear your kitchen of fuss and clutter. There are our cabinets with push-to-open mechanisms and then you have high-quality appliances from Neff that are finished with push-to-open technology. Pantries full of so much space and easy-to-clean quartz worktops are all features that cut down the chores of cleaning and upkeep.

Push-to-open Neff appliances and cabinets are seen at our Preston project.

Outdoor Spaces Still Coming in Strong

As we see beverage stations becoming popular in the modern home they are now heading outside too. This means that you can cook and have dinner in your beautiful bespoke kitchen made by Planet Furniture indoors and then continue the party in the outdoor space.
