Project Description

Sat proud on some land in Tempsford, Sandy this barn conversion was the perfect property to fit a traditional hub of the home that features our handsome In-Frame Cockbead Shaker. We were delighted to work on this renovation project for our lovely clients, working closely with their ideas and wishes to provide them with a place that can be used for cooking, eating, living and entertaining!

Starting with the layout of the kitchen, it’s a simple L-shape where an island sits in the middle complete with a solid oak round breakfast bar at the end. We hand-painted the kitchen cabinets in a two-tone colour palette – French Grey (main cabinetry) & Brinjal (island), both by F&B.

The square shaped island is built with plenty of features from an open area with slated timber to solid wood towel rails and a built-in Caple wine cooler.

Built with high ceilings, this room expands up and beyond with beautiful exposed wooden beams, which our client was keen to keep. We are so glad they did as it gives its character and warm tones. The stone flooring also adds to the barn look.

A bi-fold breakfast pantry makes preparing the most important meal of the day a breeze, while the tall pull-out larder located on the other side of the kitchen stores other kitchen essentials that are used every day. Hidden inside one of the drawers is a spice drawer and engraved storage for bread!

Placed under the window we find the sink area complete with a Quooker tap and ceramic butler sink and the cooking area sits on the other length of the “L” boasting a bespoke mantle (hand-painted in F&B Setting Plaster, same as the back wall), open shelving and glass-fronted wall cabinets.

Finally, completing the aesthetics of the kitchen design is the Colonial White Granite. This is featured around the whole of the space including a beautiful splashback and windowsill.
