Project Description

We bring to you our latest In-Frame Shaker style kitchen, featured in a new-build barn with a stunning open-plan living space complete with the most gorgeous drinks dresser.

A little bit further up the A1 from Planet Furniture HQ, we come across a quaint little village named Hinxworth. This is where our client purchased a new-built barn that would answer all their prayers for a dream home.

Our client wanted to create a style that combines function and comfort with a sense of adventure and exploration. Being a lover of the sea and maritime life, colours that reflected the ocean such as blue and white with sandy tones were needed. We hand-painted the cabinets in a two-tone colour palette with F&B Skimming Stone being the base and ‘Blue Francis’ that was colour matched to the Lacanche Range, for the island and dresser drawers.

Working with the huge space, a single galley layout was the perfect option where a large island could sit in front and offer plenty of storage solutions, such as an integrated dishwasher and integrated recycling bins. The island was also designed to zone the cooking area to the dining and living space. Also housed amongst the island is the sink area featuring a Shaws Double Sink and Perrin & Rowe taps in Polished Nickel. Two worktop surfaces were also chosen for durability, and style and the planked solid oak top separates the seating area with a raised bar top.

Along the main kitchen run is a Lacanche Classic Savigny Range Cooker in Blue Francis. This timeless beauty sits at the heart of the kitchen, offering professional performance and extraordinary versatility. The gorgeous blue range cooker is surrounded by a bespoke mantle that includes recessed alcove shelving on either side – complete with candles for that nautical theme.

Turning to the right a little and this is where we designed a single-door day pantry with internal drawers and a spice rack. Moving down the row of cabinets, a double-door pantry is seen, which includes internal drawers and a home for the smaller appliances. And just before we get to that stunning drinks dresser we have built cabinets for the integrated Miele Fridge and Freezer.

Our In-Frame shaker cabinets continue into the open-plan living space with a drinks dresser, framed beautifully with open shelving. Complete with glazed doors, bi-fold openings and thick, chunky shelves, it plays a huge part in social gatherings. When the doors are open, the drinks cabinet can become part of the space where we see mirrored backs and integrated strip lighting within.

Not only did we design and build the kitchen, but we also completed a utility/boot room too. When having a pet and coming in from muddy walks, a room dedicated to where we can kick off our shoes and hang the coats to dry is perfect. Featuring the same cabinetry as the kitchen, hand-painted in Skimming Stone by F&B and uses the same fixtures, fittings and materials as the hub of the home.
