Inspirational Women from the World of Business

Read our very own Director, Leanne in Hertfordshire Life, throughout the most difficult years, 2020, when the pandemic hit the world!

This is Jax, say hello to our gorgeous and charming PF mascot. Jax is an important member of the Planet Furniture team, he greets and impresses our clients’ old and new. Pet’s bring us so much joy and we love having this little man in the PF showroom. Lots of attention for him and he makes everyone smile!

When planning your showroom visit, plan and research as much as you can by collecting information from platforms such as Pinterest and Instagram. Create mood boards that you can bring along with you so Leanne and the other designers can determine your needs and wants.

You need to ask yourself this question is the kitchen for now or forever? Before coming to the showroom have an idea whether the kitchen is to last a long time and something that’s worth spending a huge amount of money on, or is it just a space that will ‘do for now’, because you may be considering moving in a couple of years? Many homeowners update their kitchens for different reasons, so have a clear view as the budget does come into this but so do your requirements.

How will the space be used? Are you dreaming of a large open-plan space set at the back of the property that can be opened up into the garden, designed for large gatherings and an area to relax in after a long day? Does the kitchen need to serve as the main room of the home for the whole family?

Is there enough space for a kitchen island? Is the space big enough to fit one of the most sought-after pieces of furniture? Does the layout of the room need changing? Does the kitchen triangle work? Will you be needing to knock down walls to extend the area? Factor in these points at the early stages of the kitchen project.

The Budget

When it comes down to the budget, there is a massive price range from the bottom end to the top end. Low-end kitchens such as high-street retailers can actually end up being 20-30% more than the advertised price and are designed to last for around 5-10 years. Nothing is bespoke is a large-scale production product. High-end kitchens are designed to last more than 10 years to a lifetime, delivering on appearance and longevity.

Our kitchens at Planet Furniture are truly bespoke allowing you to have flexibility in styles, materials, colours and so much more.

Set the budget by working out what you can realistically spend and how long the kitchen needs to last. When you have decided on the figure you want to spend you can then start to look at the cabinetry options and appliances on the market. The price can soon creep up as some appliances and kitchen extras can cost more so make your kitchen designer aware of your budget.

The Dream Design

It is important to build a good relationship with your kitchen supplier and designer as they are the ones who will be advising you every step of the way, on the best way to spend your money, the right layout for your room and the features and appliances that are chosen by you. Build a scrapbook of ideas, taking inspiration from magazines and platforms such as Instagram and Pinterest. Leanne and the team will then have a good understanding of the style you are looking for and whether you are after a more traditional design or more of a modern and sleek style.

Our furniture makers use the highest quality materials to bring your dream furniture to life beautifully fitting within the available space. The combination of state-of-the-art equipment and traditional cabinet-making means each component we build is bespoke for your project and will stand the test of time. Some of the high-quality features of our kitchens and furniture include solid timber dovetail drawer boxes, reliable high-quality hinges and soft closing drawer runners.

Come with measurements so we have a detailed description of where objects may be within the room for example windows, doors and boilers. Be sure to have a clear vision of the kitchen you want to be designed and built, ask for help from an expert, we are here to help.

Find our details below for visiting our showroom and booking an appointment with Leanne or another member of the team. We will create with you a bespoke kitchen that will be loved and treasured for many years to come. It will meet all of your needs, fulfil your dreams and exceed all your expectations.
