The Style – Interior & Exterior
More than just a TV lounge, this multi-purpose space has been designed for the whole family. Our Lay-On Shaker was chosen for the media unit that spans the full width of the wall, blending effortlessly into the room’s architecture and creating a built-in vibe. Choosing such a beautiful cabinet finish acts as a sophisticated backdrop, whether the screens are on or off.
Above, open shelving is proportioned equally for books, decorative objects, family treasures, and Lego, keeping the design visually balanced. What’s a media unit in a games/movie room without Lego? The central zone is designed for the double TV screens, the perfect setup for movie marathons and side-by-side gaming.
Below, two closed cabinets offer a concealed place to tuck away items that aren’t used regularly, board games and special china, while the open shelving in between is the perfect spot for the games console.
This is the ultimate satisfaction with organisation at its heart!
The Colours
Our client was drawn to the rich, earthy tone of Olive by Farrow & Ball. Being a darker space, this rich colour really comes into its own, making it ideal for a space just like this. Just imagine when the lights are off, the colour will instantly ground the space, bringing a sense of calm and offering a cocooning feel to enhance movie nights and gaming sessions.
The Finishing Touches
It wouldn’t be a media unit if it weren’t complete with LED integrated lighting to highlight the shelving and frame the screen without glare or distraction. The soft illumination enhances the cinematic atmosphere or late-night gaming session, making the room feel more inviting. This feature is how to set the mood in a bespoke frame.
To keep a tonal flow within the media unit, the worktops and shelves were hand-painted to match the rest of the cabinetry. Other details such as Corston’s Milliner knob handle bring a refined edge, subtly elevating the stunning lines of the classic Shaker.
