Lacanche

Lacanche is a French range cooker maker, hand-building each cooker to order in the village of Lacanche in Burgundy, where the workshop has been making cooking equipment since 1796. Every cooker is built on a heavy welded steel chassis, fitted with the customer’s chosen combination of cooktop, ovens, brass or chrome trim, and finished in any RAL colour. Lacanche is the obvious choice when the range cooker is the focal point of the kitchen, particularly in country properties and listed homes. At Planet Furniture we are a Lacanche partner and design our bespoke handcrafted kitchens around Lacanche cookers when the brief calls for one.

Building Your Lacanche
Buying a Lacanche is closer to commissioning a piece of furniture than choosing an appliance from a brochure. Every cooker starts as a steel chassis, and you specify the cooktop, the ovens, the colour, the trim and the size. The result is a one-off range cooker that exactly suits your cooking style and the look of the kitchen.
Cooktop options include open burners, sealed burners, induction zones, a French simmer plate (a heavy cast iron plate that holds gentle heat across the surface), a teppanyaki style plancha, a multi cooker (a deep recess for stocks and boiling), and wok burners. Ovens can be combined from a list of gas, electric convection, electric static, warming cupboards and a small bain marie. Lacanche is most often paired with our in-frame shaker and lay-on shaker kitchens.

French Colours, Trim and Finishing
The colour palette is what most clients notice first. Lacanche is finished in any RAL reference, which means you can pick a heritage tone like Bleu Provence, Vert Vendée or Coquelicot poppy red, a refined neutral like Mastic or Stone, or colour-match the cooker exactly to a wall or door colour from Farrow & Ball, Little Greene or another paint range.
Trim is the second customisation. Brass is the traditional choice and ages beautifully. Chrome gives a cleaner contemporary look. Nickel sits in between, and copper is the most striking. The bullhead knobs, oven handles and side rails are all available in your chosen trim. A Lacanche is a long term investment. The cookers are built to last for decades and parts are stocked indefinitely, so a cooker installed today can be serviced, refinished or reconfigured in twenty years’ time.
