How To Make A Dark Kitchen Work1 min read

The trend for dark kitchens looks set to become a classic of our time – creating a timeless warmth in a space where function has traditionally been prioritised over comfort. As our kitchens morph from single-use, practical spaces into the multi-use, beating heart of the home they’ve become an expression of our personal taste.
As a design-led kitchen manufacturer here are our tips to make a dark kitchen work for you;

  • If an entire kitchen in a dark colour is too brave a move then a solid block of a striking colour can emphasise a freestanding unit or mark out different zones, offering an effective contrast to a lighter or more subdued colour scheme.
  • Deep navy, smoky greys, rich khaki – all work equally well with, both, traditional shaker-style cabinetry or contemporary handless designs. Contrast with crisp whites and sharp marble for worktops or small touches of pastel shades on accessories to really let the darkness sing. Consider popping in the odd cabinet in a contrasting colour or painting an island in a lighter shade.
  • Accents of brass and copper are not only bang on trend but perfect for lightening the tone whilst the inclusion of natural wood tones will add warmth and character to the most contemporary of kitchen designs.
