PF Kitchen Design Notes – Minimalist Luxury In-Frame Shaker, Letchworth5 min read

As a team, we’re delighted to welcome you to our Letchworth project, a space built on minimalist design and handcrafted detail. This kitchen also quickly became a favourite of our director, Leanne, who thoroughly enjoyed seeing the vision come to life. Every element was built with a dedicated approach to organisation that supports real family living at the heart of the home.

From the very beginning, the brief centred around creating an open, calming space, one that would feel beautiful to live in and be filled with a sense of love and intention for the family who call it home.

The Style – Interior & Exterior

The heart of the design is our bespoke In-Frame Square Shaker cabinetry, a style celebrated for its clean lines, square-frame detailing and pure elegance. Our kitchen, designed in Letchworth, beautifully expresses the charm of a classic Shaker while embracing a contemporary edge suited to the way of open-plan life. But the true luxury lies beyond the exterior, behind the doors and drawers, where a touch of our British craftsmanship is found. These warm oak details bring the experience of the kitchen to life and how it functions every day.

With a handcrafted frame, balanced proportions, and joinery to last, this Shaker design is tailored to our clients’ needs and lifestyle.

The Colours

Carefully selecting a beautiful, balanced two-colour scheme, the olive green and neutral hue are the perfect choice to ground this open-plan space. Stealing the show is the COAT’s “The Tobacconist”, a rich, 5-star olive green that radiates sophistication and warmth for a characterful focal point. Complementing this lovely hue is Little Greene’s Slaked Lime Dark, hand-painted on the main cabinetry. It certainly embraces the overall brightness of high ceilings and vast space.

Together, this layered palette feels both modern and enduring, which we have fallen in love with.

The Appliances

Carefully considering each of the appliances in this cooking zone, the setup is anchored by a bank of Neff appliances, featuring a N70 Single Oven paired with the N70 Compact Oven & Microwave, both in the new colourway: Graphite. We positioned them together for effortless, ergonomic cooking. Creating a stack like this meant our client had a clean, architectural feature that blends seamlessly into the cabinetry with storage above and below.

Along this same run, the N70 Neff Gas Hob in sleek black glass sits elegantly beneath a bespoke mantle designed to our client’s specification. The curved frontage is a real focal point and houses the Westin Prime extractor for a highly functional workspace.

Maintaining the streamlined aesthetic is the separate N70 Neff Fridge & Freezer, fully integrated within the floor-to-ceiling cabinetry. This not only maximises storage but also reinforces the grand, structured feel of the kitchen design.

This space is fully embraced with modern technology and handcrafted cabinetry that both work in perfect harmony, supporting the client’s lifestyle and everyday needs. Graphite is dark, dramatic and contemporary and is the new colourway for the refreshed range of N70 appliances.

The Sink Area

Positioned thoughtfully within the island, the sink area plays a key role in making this kitchen a sociable one. Featuring the crisp Caple Cheshire undermount ceramic sink in white, paired beautifully with the Quooker Flex tap in matt black, this setup allows the user to stay fully connected with the open-plan living space.

Whether our client is washing vegetables, prepping food for dinner guests, or simply rinsing hands between tasks, the person at the sink is never isolated. They remain an important part of the conversation, facing towards the breakfast bar where friends or family can relax, chat, or enjoy a drink.

The Finishing Touches

Storage was one of the important factors in shaping this kitchen, and the final design was built with three bespoke solutions. Organising everyday living was the main focus, and we provided a designated breakfast dresser, a luxury wine cabinet, and a fully equipped pantry.

We’ll start with the breakfast pantry. A neatly concealed morning hub, complete with bi-fold doors, integrated lighting, and a beautiful bronze antique mirror that reflects light and adds a subtle hint of glamour to start the day. It comes alive when needed and houses the coffee machine, toaster and other daily essentials. As soon as the morning rush is over, it disappears behind closed doors.

The wine cabinet opens up to display a built-in wine rack and shelving for glasses, spirits and barware. This wine centre is a different take on a home bar. Finally, the pantry cupboard delivers smart, functional organisation. In a floor-to-ceiling configuration, there are plenty of shelves to offer easy access to everyday ingredients, while the spice rack built into the door keeps essentials perfectly arranged.

Beyond the cabinetry and layout, you will find a selection of thoughtful touches, including the Denali quartz worktop and full-height splashback, which introduces a subtle touch of luxury, showcasing a crisp white backdrop with delicate grey veining. Throughout the space, integrated strip lighting enhances both practicality and atmosphere, highlighting our handcrafted detail, brightening work zones, and adding an inviting mood at all times of the day. Finishing the whole look is the Corston Milliner handles in Bronze.
