Introducing this clean, simple and organised space designed for Mo Gilligan – a much-loved addition to the home, where it’s all about Mo and his style! Following on from that impressive sneaker room that we recently spoke about in a previous post, we carried on the same style throughout both rooms – the sleek white cabinets and black matte handles. The luxury of this room simplifies and elevates the daily routine of getting dressed, and is great for all times of the day.
There was a spare room in Mo’s home and he knew it was destined for something like this!
The Style – Interior & Exterior
As previously mentioned, we carried the same style from the sneaker room to this dressing area, with the Premium White cabinets, a flat fronted design and complete with long t-bar black matte handles. A simple yet luxurious design.
When working with Mo, he had an idea of what he wanted and we believe we bought this to reality with the details that were bought to the table.
The brief was plenty of hanging space where garments could be stored efficiently and quickly selected, whether hung or folded in the spacious storage. The floor-to-ceiling cabinets on one side of the room feature hanging rails (some a double layer), or a single hanging rail and internal shelves beneath. Further to the floor-to-ceiling storage, top boxes have been introduced, storing items that aren’t used every day.
On the opposite side of the room, you can find a combination of low-level drawers and storage cupboards built on push-to-open mechanisms. Above the storage and keeping with the minimalistic look Mo has gone for, exposed black industrial-style hanging rails are seen that tie in with the other black-coloured features found in the room.
Above the rails, open shelves are perfect for decorative items.
Everything has a place amongst the bespoke cabinetry and design!
The Colours
Mo wanted to create a clean and timeless look with neutral tones in his dressing room. Neutrals have a calming effect and can help create a serene environment and this is exactly what the light hues do in this room.
The choice of clothes that are on show interacts with the room’s colour scheme too.
The Finishing Touches
The dream is to be able to have a room dedicated to getting ready at any time of the day, so that’s where a dressing room comes into the equation. Whether it’s to start your day or for that evening out, you want the space to be organised and filled with features that are a personal preference to you. Because the cabinetry is truly bespoke, you can have exactly what you want.
Each of the wardrobes has been finished with horizontal LED strip lighting that’s recessed internally, working on door sensors – this is a nice little touch.
In the middle of the room is a functional island complete with three drawers and a recessed glass top where accessories can be viewed and easily selected. It becomes the perfect place to store sunglasses, belts and other items that are wonderfully divided by black velvet inserts. Connected to the island is a low-level upholstered bench seat which is also in black velvet matching other parts of the wardrobe design – a comfortable spot to sit while putting on shoes or trying on outfits.
Placing a dressing room island in the centre of the room creates a functional and efficient workflow. You can move around the island easily, accessing different storage compartments and utilising the countertop space while getting ready.
