Socialising in your Planet Furniture Kitchen4 min read

The kitchen has become the socialising place of the home, due to it now being known as the ‘new living room’. These open-plan spaces are made to get family and friends together in the same room, but without getting in each other’s way. We create these spaces as multi-functional as can be, where you can cook, eat, relax and most importantly socialise together.

How do you want the space to be used? Island/ breakfast bar seating? Or is a formal dining table the one? How about both if you have the room? Here at Planet Furniture, we can design your bespoke kitchen around the functionality of how you want the room to be used incorporating your much-prefered seating arrangements, separating them but combining them with the overall aesthetics.

Seating at the Island and Breakfast Bar

Kitchen island seating can have stools pulled up to it providing space for casual dining and inviting conversations with the cook. The island defines the cooking and living areas and directs traffic out of the work core. The seating will be designed on the outer perimeters so those seated can enjoy the cooking action without being in the chef’s way.

Do you want your island to have an uninterrupted span of countertop or with multiple levels designed for different tasks?

The same goes for the breakfast bar too.

The dark and sultry In-Frame kitchen layout located in Hitchin allows our client and their guests to sit on the comfy stools at the island, where there’s ample room for up to 4 people to catch up with a coffee during the week. Entertaining has never been so easier due to the formal dining space at the left of the kitchen. This huge open-plan space also has another entertaining area on the other side including a games table and walk-in wine room! The perfect place to host dinner parties any day of the week!

Padded cushions and a seating arrangement that flows around the corner of the island are found in this attractive and modern handleless style kitchen in Hitchin. This type of seating makes for a more sociable conversation and a worthy place to relax at with nibbles and bubbles.

The calm and relaxed style in this contemporary handleless style kitchen in Royston below has been designed with entertaining in mind. With the large island centred in the middle, it becomes the perfect spot for guests and family to relax without getting in the way of the host preparing the food. The fresh and inviting green kitchen at Ashwell has been designed with style in mind. A convenient seating area has been incorporated into the kitchen island design with room for three bar stools that are a wooden texture, tieing in with the aesthetics of the whole space. It’s great for breakfast, quick family meals, to perch on for a catch-up coffee, or for children to do their homework.

Dining Table Seating

If you have the space and your room is large enough to allow your dream kitchen plus a separate dining table, this is the ultimate socialising option everyone wants! Having a separate dining table to the main kitchen allows for a clear division between the cooking and dining spaces. This is particularly ergonomic for hosting dinner parties when you aren’t so keen on your primary cooking area being interrupted by guests.

We designed and built this hand-painted In-Frame shaker with cockbead in Royston. To match the Full Stave Solid Oak breakfast bar our client opted for the same table top on their dining room table.
