Project Description
In this newbuild Beaconsfield home, a luxurious experience throughout extends outdoors, where a beautifully landscaped garden features an idyllic pergola complete with an outdoor kitchen for year-round outdoor entertaining. Set beneath a timber structure and tucked up against the brick wall of the house, the kitchen feels both sheltered and grounded, an extension of the building rather than a standalone garden feature. The brief is as ambitious as it sounds: a remarkable family home that effortlessly marries luxury with laidback practicality, with the same considered design language flowing from the interior rooms straight into the open air.
Working in collaboration with Birch House Interior Design, we shaped a scheme that feels every bit as polished as anything you’d find inside. A long run of our handless furniture forms the heart of the space, each door fronted with slim vertical slats. It’s a detail currently doing the rounds in some of the country’s most fashion-forward interiors, and bringing it outside is a quietly radical move. The beautiful fluting catches the light differently as the day shifts into starlit evenings, lending texture and rhythm to the backdrop.
The worktops are Impala Granite in a honed finish, chosen for its deep, even tone and its ability to weather the seasons without losing composure. The same stone wraps around the end panel as a waterfall, drawing the eye to the floor and giving the run real architectural weight. It also forms the housing for the appliances and a built-in log storage, knitting every element into a single, cohesive piece of joinery rather than a collection of separate parts.
And then there are the appliances themselves: a large Big Green Egg ceramic charcoal BBQ and a Napoleon Prestige built-in natural gas BBQ, side by side. The Big Green Egg covers low-and-slow weekends and woodsmoke obsessives, while the Napoleon takes on the everyday rhythm of midweek dinners, Sunday lunches, and last-minute gatherings. Together, they cover every mood and every season.
Sheltered beneath the timber pergola, with the brickwork of the house at its back and the garden unfolding beyond, what a beautiful space to retreat to all year round, from cooking to relaxing and a touch of Planet Furniture.
